DIAL House offers an Advice & Information service, Community Café, Shopmobility service and Volunteer placements; DIAL’s services are primarily delivered by volunteers. The training and development opportunities that have been available to support DIAL’s workforce within the past year have included a welfare benefits training programme and advice-related courses, cooking skills courses, 1st aid course, health & safety course, computer training courses and a range of courses based on improving confidence and improving interpersonal skills.
The award nomination came from Cheshire County Council’s Lifelong Learning Service with whom DIAL works in partnership to address skills gaps. The nomination stated: ”The centre has maintained a healthy quota of volunteering staff in a climate where some organisations are suffering serious shortfalls of volunteers. A large proportion of DIAL staff are themselves disabled or have learning difficulties. Each time I visit I see happy staff who are always willing to help in what must be quite a challenging and busy operating environment. The centre literally buzzes as a result of the staff enthusiasm for the many and complex issues that they personally have to face with clients.”
Several volunteering roles are involved in supporting and delivering our range of services. If you would like to join us, ask for an informal chat about volunteer vacancies and training opportunities.
